Matt Gillis- Freelance Photographer

I am a freelance photographer based out of Salem, Oregon.  I am a photographer with lots of passion and vision. I want to push creative ideas and I love to produce work that makes me proud. I have pursued photojournalism and I have a B.A in photography. Through my experiences I have started to love portrait and product photography. It is photography that I can control so I  can always get the image I want.

I have had internships with National Geographic Adventure, D.C. United, the Statesman Journal, Deseret News, EMU Marketing, JMU Sports Media, Madison Magazine, and I have volunteered for CCTV. I was a guest speaker in photo classes at two different universities before I even graduated. Through all of these experiences I have learned to create or find beautiful light, shoot portraits, shoot adventure and sports photography and tell stories. A photo mentor of mine suggested I should become a freelance photographer so I have changed my direction in photography to be a freelance photographer. I am considering going back to school in January for a Masters of Fine Art degree in photography where I will focus on commercial and advertising photography.
